Advocacy / Women’s Rights / Mental Health / Connection with Nature

Art is a powerful tool of communication. I use my artwork as a tool to advocate for causes important to me through a broad range of mediums. So far, this has meant advocating for women’s rights and mental health awareness. Regardless of the social issue, the basic message of my art is always the same: to communicate hope. I am confident in the necessity of hope-filled artwork because I believe it has the unique ability to rally people together. Hope means change is possible. Thus, hope motivates action.

My prints meld historical and current iconography to create forceful imagery with an updated message. They are created in a timely fashion to create expanded awareness of the current push for women’s rights. Only through awareness can action be triggered. Additionally, not only are my prints a rally cry in response to current events, but they also provide historical documentation of our times.

Recently, I have experimented with installations to raise awareness of mental health and recognize the positive impact a connection with nature has on mental health. While my installations differ aesthetically and contextually, they aim to help viewers realize they are not alone in their battle for mental health, help them feel comfortable reaching out to others, and/or give them refuge by bringing nature to them through art.
